For the occasional cereal..

I don't often eat boxed cereals -- the amount of packaging and the nutrients just don't work for me. At times when I have broken down to pick up a convenience food like boxed cereal, I found myself with Kashi - this stuff tastes really good. It is great with almond milk and has pretty high protein for a cereal. It stays light and crispy in almond milk and isn't overly sweet.

"Kashi" is a proprietary blend of seven whole grains and sesame and no artificial ingredients. The grains are: hard red winter wheat, oats, rye, barley, triticale, long grain brown rice, and buckwheat. Kashi's products emphasize their high protein and fiber content.

Interestingly - the company's name was chosen by combining "kashrut" (kosher) with "Kushi" the last name of Michio and Aveline Kushi, credited with bringing the modern macrobiotic diet to the United States.
