You know how wines from volcanic regions have a smokey, ashen flavor? Well, Kona coffee does too, since it only grows in a small region on the Big Island in Hawaii. In my opinion, it's a little too expensive (around $50 per pound, unless you're in Hawaii itself), but it's certainly caught my attention of late and now I understand why people love it so much. It's fine, smooth, volcanic, ashen, caffeinep-rich, almost European. I don't know anything about Island Cafe but I recently picked up a 6oz. bag of their ground roast, and was pleased. Again, I don't think this is the best Kona coffee, but it's certainly fine.
