Mr. Chouinard is the man

Upon reading the Patagonia founder's insight into business, there can be no doubt that you are reading the words of an exceptionally educated man, educated in the sense of worldly experience, perfectly summed by the subtitle, "The education of a reluctant businessman."

A tremendous read, Let My People Go Surfing inspired me with its sweeping breadth and depth, from discussions around the importance of learning crafts, like how to make a surfboard, to the cultural sensitivities of Japan, to world-class mountaineering, and just how to really make a product, by putting it to the test.

Mr. Chouinard's book is more than just a memoir or a recount of Patagonia's history as a company. It's an inspiration, a solid business book, a work of art, a true testament to man's stick-to-it-iveness and what can be achieved through sheer determination.

Patagonia's the bomb, and Mr. Chouinard is the fuse.
