LifeSource Water Systems, is a manufacturer and distributor of water treatment products for residential, commercial and industrial applications.
800-334-5009After I did a lot of research on our water treatment options, we recently installed a LifeSource system in our vacation condo in the central CA coast area (Nipomo). The water there is quite hard, although the biggest problem is that the city-provided water is highly chlorinated -- to the point where it was really irritating our skin and our hair felt like straw after showering.
LifeSource DOES NOT claim to be a water softener; as they do claim, the system has resolved the chlorine problem, so the water doesn't reek of chlorine and it feels far more gentle. Skin and hair feel great after showers, and we can now drink out of every faucet. (No bottled water needed!) We attached a soaker hose to the discharge pipe and use the backwash water to irrigate our small planting area outside.
We are very happy with the system, and feel that it delivers on all product claims. Pricey, perhaps, but we had no other good choices. (Out neighbors mostly use water softeners, with all of the associated sodium, drinkability, and other associated environmental issues; simply not a choice for us.) We recommend the LifeSource system to others and are considering the investment in our home in WA.

We have had our LifeSource for about three years. We bought the system when we were remodeling our masterbath and thought that it would be worth the money to keep our new tile, shower glass, toilets, fixtures, etc. free from hard water. We were told by the salesman at the home show where we bought it that it would eliminate our hard water. He even threw in for free an additional filter because we live in an area with hard water but it has not done the job as well as we expected. Our shower door and fixtures have hard water spots and our toilets have hard water rings. We still need to use a lot of Lime Away and steel wool. I do have to say that I do not smell the chlorine in the water when I take a shower and I do drink the water out of the tap now, but I think that I could have gotten the same results for a lot less money.

I recently had a lifesource system installed in my home in southern california. I basically couldn't put up with the water softener that we had installed from Culligan since it was super noisy and I was tired of paying $60 a month to have a guy come out and keep refilling my system with salt. I really didn't (and still don't) know much about the water business, but I saw that Ed Begley used the product and looked into it. Overall I think it works really well. We have been using it for about four months now and I don't notice a huge difference with my skin or hair as the product said, but my wife seems to think it helps her complexion. Even though it was slightly more expensive than some of the other filtration systems I looked into, I think the savings down the line with the guaranteed warranty will make up for it. Also we cut down on buying bottled water from Costco a ton since everyone just drinks out of the tap.

I love our whole house LifeSource Water system! It is great the kids can get clean water from every faucet...and that our showers and baths also have great water.
I have owned my lifesource for 5 years and love it! I was happy to see that Ed Begley agrees with me, as it validates my choice. Help get rid of bottled water and get the chlorine out of your tap and showers. You will love it too!

LifeSource markets the unit as a softener. However, the unit doesn't live up to its expectations. Water is still super hard after installation and I regret purchasing from this company.

Why did you purchase a LifeSource if you wanted a water softener. They make it very clear that their product is not a softener, which is a good thing. Water softeners waste water and put salt brine into the water table... more »

I agree with Adam. LifeSource made it very clear to me that they were not a water softener...which made me very happy. As many may know, water softeners are very bad for the environment. I have had my LifeSource... more »
