Lula's has been around for years, and I find them consistently excellent. I met my soulmate there, but that is not why I love this place, the food keeps bringing me back. I enjoy the space, the casual yet arty ambiance, which allows anyone from a bike messenger to business clients to feel comfortable. It's not pretentious, or trendy, it just is simply Lula's. Try their dinner specials, and if you are lucky you'll get an amuse buche - yummy! I love the desserts and the classic Pasta Yiayia has an amazing flavor combination - feta and cinnamon. Brunch is always good, try it outside on a sunny day. I hope this place always remains as it is, comfortable, creative, local seasonal foods, great service and atmosphere and last but not least - walking distance from my apartment.

From the outside this place looks like any run-of-the-mill organic cafe, but on the inside is an adorable fine-dining experience, with a great menu of organic, local items.
I had the artichoke meyer lemon soup and then the stinging nettle farro for dinner. I tasted the peanut butter satay noodle and it was delicious. All of the food was outstanding and the owners came over to talk with us (my coworker is an old friend of theirs) and they were excited to discuss their local suppliers and the menu for the evening.
Overall, an impressive menu in an impressive space.

Mega points for serving organic delicious upscale cuisine. Appetizers were great, and the dessert was nice, but I must be honest, my main dish, the pork shoulder with fava beans, was way too salty. Points for the wine list and friendly service. Cute facade.
Oh, and the owners stayed open late for us at SustainLane to finish our meal.

I am an adventurous eater and for that reason alone must commend Lula Cafe. With dishes like stinging nettle faro and poached shrimp and grits (both of which were spectacular), any foodie will leave this place more than satisfied. The staff was super friendly and the wine list had an amazing selection from all over the world. The decor was cute and funky at the same time. When in Chicago, this is a must-visit!

last sunday i walked in with about 20 people for a dinner party, and not only were they prepared, but they were completely attentive despite the full restaurant. the appetizers were unusual and amazing, the wine selection ruled (try the alsace blanc), and the desserts were diving. my entree was a little bit "off" compared to the rest of my meal, but really, i can't complain much. i hear the brunch is to die for, too.

I recently had the pleasure of eating at Lula Cafe and everything I ate (and I ate ALOT) was delicious. The owners were extremely nice as well as the staff. I highly recommend Lula Cafe.

Lula Cafe has an incredible atmosphere and lots of veggie options (but I'm not so sure about vegan choices). Their brunch is to DIE FOR--try the breakfast burrito. Yum!

Lulu uses local, organic ingredients to create inventive dishes--like Maine shrimp with grits (which I had last night and stands out as one of the more interesting dishes I've eaten in a few years). It's a relatively small restaurant, and it's open for brunch, as well as dinner, always with eclectic art on the walls. Highly recommend it!
