When the company was first started and was run and overseen by Karl Muller, the MBT shoes I bought were PERFECT. I wore them daily for 2 years. Never an issue and saved me from surgery. Now, it was sold and it is out sourced to many other countries to make. Mine were perfect and made in Vietnam originally. Now, they are made in Indonesian. The milimeter differences in the design, have thrown off my gait and balance just enough to have ruined my back and extensor muscle. I can not wear my two pair of almost new 270.00 MBT leathers now. After 30 days of walking all day with them as I do in my job, my gait is so off, I am inconstant pain. I had to go back to old sneakers and that ruins my tailors bunions. That was the reason I went to MBT in the first place. I now am at a loss as to what to wear. The smallest amount of difference in these shoes now being made, would make Mr. Muller not proud. I so wished he kept his hand in this product he discovered and not sold out. Or, I wish that they same company who made them in Vietnam, was still being used. They fit me perfectly then for 2 plus years the four pair I bought. Buyer beware of possible gait issues as you wear the new models.
Poor design, not good for wide feet and the employees are incredibly rude! Spoke with three at a recent More + Fitness magazine event they sold their shoes at and all were rude and not interested in talking about the product at all. Very suspicious. I wouldn't waste my money on this company.
My chiropractor recommended these MBT shoes to me for my lower back pain and improve my posture. Turns out we're built to walk around on all-fours according to him, and going bipedal tends to wreck our backs. Anyway, these sandal's soles are curved, so they actually rock back and forth while you stand up straight. The motion strengthens your leg and back muscles, while supporting your arches (and develops your balance!). Walking in them is like walking on the sand at the beach...it takes a bit of practice, and tires you out quickly. The first time I wore them, the guy in the shop told me not to wear them for more than 15 minutes at a time. After walking around for about 2 hours, I took them off, and could barely move without feeling the soreness in my calf muscles (unfortunately, I'm an experiential learner). I got the hang of these MBT sandals pretty quickly though, and now I just love them. It is a bit of a workout wearing them, but I can feel my legs getting stronger, and my back problems are at bay. I highly recommend the MBT style shoes, they get to be super-comfortable, and they are great for your feet, back, hips, and legs. Don't give up on them right away, they take a bit of getting used to, but they're amongst my favorite shoes now. I can see my posture improving as well!

Yes Cris, they are great! I just re-read my review, and I have to say that I don't really even notice anymore that they require more work to move in, which I suppose is an indication of my improving balance and leg... more »
