Megabus

Megabus isn't so bad, I've ridden them a number of times. I do prefer Bolt Bus, but in a pinch Mega gets the job done, and definitely way better than the Chinatown bus. Check out www.busjunction.com.

Stay away from Megabus. Beware!!

They do not pick you from the bus stop, they do not give you any information/updates, they do not listen your complaints/issues, their customer care personnel are expert in disconnecting your calls or transferring your calls here and there and they do not reply to your emails too.I had booked three mega bus tickets through www.Megabus.com with confidence to get one of the best bus services in the US as I was traveling with my spouse and kid. The bus never showed up at airport on the date and time (mid night). We were there at airport for 2 hrs. After trying for 15-20 minutes at mid night to contact Mega bus customer service, I came to know that a white bus had come there and left. That bus was not from the Mega bus fleet and did not have any indication of Mega bus. Driver did not ask any passengers waiting at airport to board the bus or let them know that that was the Mega bus. Also, the bus stopped at Buffalo airport for just 2 minutes and drove away ignoring all the passengers waiting at airport for Mega bus. The bus driver was busy talking to someone over the phone throughout and left soon after. No one from Mega bus was there at the airport or at customer service to help us or tell us what to do next. Because of this negligence and carelessness, I suffered a lot of mental and physical problems as it was raining on that night and I was traveling with a kid.
I finally decided to stay at hotel and book three airline tickets. I spent around $450 for all of these things. Again the next day I tried to contact Mega bus customer service and they kept transferring the call to different people. Since then I have tried to contact Mega Bus Customer service 5-6 times but have not received a proper reply yet. I have also sent 3-4 emails to inquiries@megabus.com , support@megabus.com and through Mega bus website but again have not received any reply. I have left 2-3 voice messages for Mega Bus Customer Care Supervisor as well, but he/she has not returned my calls yet.

BEWARE! Poor customer service, incorrect info from phone staff

My girlfriend and I were thrilled when we first found megabus through the hotel. We needed to get from Toronto to Buffalo Airport and didn't want to rent a car so we checked out bus options. At $15 per person Megabus seemed too good to be true and unfortunately it was.

We arrived at the back of the Royal York Hotel 45 minutes before the schedule departure and couldn't find anyone from megabus and the other customers were all waiting for other buses. We called the customer service number but they weren't open or weren't answering so we got a recording that confirmed the departure location. The departure time came and went so I called back and after 10 minutes on hold, finally got someone who let me know I was given the wrong location when I booked with the customer service representative. The 9am bus leaves from the Royal York, but the 7:50am leaves from the bus terminal. We had a 12:15pm flight that we were going to miss so in the end we had to rent a car last minute which cost me $250.

Two weeks later I'm still trying to get a refund for our lousy $30 and the manager won't return my calls.

If I had internet access during our trip I could have found the correct information but we didn't and we got screwed. It's a great idea to help save the planet while saving money, but beware!

Megabust

Totally not customer friendly. The bus leaving 3 hours before hours was 3 hours late. No one could tell us how late our bus was going to be. The driver did not have any information and was not willing to call headquarters and find out for us. Calling the company was a waste of time! Customer service was busy the entire night, the main number told us the bus had left already (it was 7:50 and they said it left at 8, 10 minutes in the future). We were in Chicago and Megabus is Megacheap and doesn't pay amtrak any money for lobby space so the cops kicked us out into the cold rain! There was a girl scout troup sitting in the rain! Awful! So we ended up taking a car to get home which was sucked but with some buses getting cancelled and not knowing what time ours would arrive if at all, we had little choice. We will NOT take the megabust ever again!

Travel with Megabus

I just found out about this great no-car option for local trips around greater Chicagoland. Megabus is a biofuel bus service that operates daily express routes for areas including San Francisco, LA and Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Memphis, Chicago, Detroit and Columbus, as well as Washington DC, NYC, Boston and Toronto. With very reasonable, and sometimes ridiculously low rates such as $1, why not leave the car or carshare at home and save some CO2 emissions, while leaving the driving to Megabus? Some buses are doubledeckers, while all have luggage racks and a toilet, eliminating the need for pitstops. Megabus provides safe, fast, clean, friendly and reliable travel for passengers. Booking is done solely online. Reserve 45 days in advance for best prices, and even last minute one-way tickets are never more than $30.

Megabus does not know how to spell customer service. If you don't mind waiting 3 hours or more (in the cold, rain, etc) and not being able to get ANY information on where the bus is and when it will arrive...try Megabus... more »
