Missing Link bike coop is great!! Sharp heads, best in class accessories, good location, decent prices... also such essentials as clif and luna bars on hand. Brands carried: giro/bell helmets, marin/bianchi bikes. Also, Kryptonite locks and Planet One lights.
This is pretty good as cycle shops in Berkeley go. There's a self-service repair shed within the store where you and another gearhead can post up and work on your own bikes with the shop's loaner tools/manuals. Good for basic repairage. ML also has free "how do I fix this?" classes.
Across the street, the Missing Link "Annex" has three guys repairing hundreds of bikes every week. Bill fixed the front derailers on my friend's bike and my bike for... $5 total. Woot! The Annex also sells used bikes of known pedigree.
