Delish and sustainable

Gots to love a good salad, and these are certainly good. This place reminds me a lot of Cosi, a sandwich and salad chain from back east. They both have the same theory - a bunch of fresh ingredients sitting behind a bar, then one of the professional salad makers behind the counter makes you either one of the pre-set salads or sandwhiches or you can design your own. Then they mix it up for you and viola! Delish food at your fingertips.

Mixt Greens however one-ups Cosi in one dimension - they are incredibly sustainable. All of their food is sourced locally and organically when possible (which is practically always). All of their takeout containers and cups are compostable (although that is kinda useless unless you actually compost it when your done). Even their space is sustainable - their tables are made from recycled plastic bottles, and all of their wood was sourced sustainably.

Delicious food, a tad expensive but not a rip off considering where it is, and organic. Visit this place if you get the chance - you won't be disappointed!

Mixt Greens at 560 Mission Street in San Francisco, great place

I just ate at Mixt Greens at 560 Mission Street (between 2nd and 1st Street) in San Francisco. It is great! The menu offers alot of variety as well as a 'design your own salad' option. There a couple seasonal salads and sandwiches too. They state they serve 'environmentally responsible fine food'. They offer organic and locally sourced ingredients...yay! They also use 100% compostable corn take-away containers. Their spaces are built with renewable, recycled and environmentally friendly materials.

Their website is: (http://www.mixtgreens.com)

The space at 560 Mission is really open and nice. They have outside tables in a courtyard that is surrounded by large bamboo plants.

I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch.
