Monterey Market
Great place for organic produce and groceries at very reasonable prices. The spread of fruits and veggies is unbeatable along with lots of less common varieties that aren't available at your regular supermarket. Some of my favorites include the mushroom selection (can't stay away from the fresh Shiitake), great seasonable fruits, and Asian vegetables. Much of the selection available is also locally produced. Family owned as well so down to earth feel and prices!

Monterey Market, neighborhood friend
Monterey Market is a great place to buy produce. They always have a great selection of locally grown produce at competitive prices. I describe it to friends as "similar to Berkeley Bowl's produce and bulk departments but in North Berkeley and without the rest of Berkeley Bowl, including the lines." (yeah! little lines!) I always seem to run into people I know there and the grocers are really friendly. So, not quite as green as Berkeley farmer's markets, but convenient.
