Solid deodorant.
BuyThe lavender worked well, the smell is so authentic and addicting. The trouble is, to get it to work like I need it to I have to apply two or three times a day. Because it is so soft and melty I go through it very quickly (like one and a half a month). I would keep using it just for the smell but I really can't afford to blow $10 a month on deodorant.
I was very disappointed with the unscented. It did less than nothing for me, I would have been better off baby powdering my pits.
So I guess its kind of worth it, but I'm still looking for something better.

I used to use the salt rock deodorant b/c I like to keep it simple and my skin is sensitive to many products. It was ok, but only moderately effective.
I picked up the UNSCENTED Tom's Deodorant with hops and so far so good. I find it effective, it doesn't irritate my very sensitive skin. It works better than the salt rock.
As a producer of a skin care product (Emily Skin Soothers) I am a serious label reader. Nothing about Tom's ingredient list for this product set off any warning bells. So far, I like it very much.

I really liked Tom's Long-Lasting Lemongrass at first, because it defintely does last longer than their regular formula. But after a couple months, my skin became painful and it was flaking! Anyone else had that problem? Any ideas what ingredient would be the problem?
I switched back to Tom's Calendula (which is the best smelling deoderant ever--floral, but not too sweet), which is fine, but I do have to reapply at lunch in the summer.
I love Toms of Maine. I've used 2 different scents of the deodorant now. I'm finding that my body gets "used to" one after a while, and it stops working. The first one I tried was the hops one, and after a few months, I actually smelled WORSE!!! (like the other reviewer stated) But I then switched over to the Lemongrass one, and it worked just fine! I'm starting (after about 5 mos) to see it's effectiveness diminish a little, so I'm thinking it's time to switch to a new formula, but it will definitely be Toms of Maine.

I used to love Tom's of Maine deodorant but I think they must have changed their formula within the last 6 months or so because now I find that not only does the deodorant not work but it actually makes me smell worse. I'd really like to support Tom's but I have been less than impressed lately.
Absolutely perfect all day protection against deodorant.Pleasant fragrance too! Thank you

This works about as well as all the other Tom's of Maine deodorants I've tried, but it smells much much sweeter. Not my ideal armpit scent, but surprisingly it doesn't bother my sensitive nose!
Tom's of Maine is owned by Colgate now. Easier to buy, harder to trust?

Tom's of Maine natural, long-lasting, lemongrass deodorant stick has a new improved formula with the antimicrobial action of botanical hops to control odor along with the ability of zinc to bind odor molecules. It is aluminum-free, with no risk of contact dermatitis or carcinogens. David Steinman, author of Diet for a Poisoned Planet and The Safe Shopper's Bible, recommends all of Tom's of Maine deodorants.
Note: Since 2006, Tom's of Maine manufacturing facility is powered with 100% renewable wind energy, which translates into a reduction of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by 1.5M lbs/year, which is equal to planting 214 acres of trees or taking 138 cars off the road.

To clear things up for those looking for an anti-perspirant, TOMs (Tom's of Maine...how witty that the acronym is TOM, as well. OK, so I'm a little slow!) is a deodorant which means they "mask" or neutralize odor. An anti-perspirant decreases or eliminates sweat. The latter is unhealthy. We must sweat to help rid our bodies of toxins. And as a fellow heavy sweater, I empathize w/those looking for the "cure".
The main thing is that you don't stink! For me, I had to apply this twice/day so as not to offend. I gave it a 3 because it works even though I had to reapply. My stick stated "Long Lasting"! (Long lasting, my butt!) Though I adore the lemongrass scent, it needs to smell nice in the pits, not just the stick. And sadly, this was not to be the case after about 4 hours of non-stop sweating.(What better test subject then an Arizonan with an outdoor job in the midst of a 110 degree summer?) On the up side? It's Aluminum-free which makes it better than most over the counter "pit sticks".
Heavy sweaters & tragic funksters, steer clear of TOM's. See Organic Miessence for one option!

My physician recently told me that I have lumps in each of my breasts. He instructed me that this is normal for many women, but to make sure I perform regular breast exams and watch for any changes. At 25, my risk for breast cancer is much lower, but 1 in 7 women develop breast cancer in their life time. Some risk factors are out of my control like the fact that I have no children.
One of the risk factors that I can control is lowering the amount of toxic substances that I expose myself to. Parabens have been found in cancer cells, but scientific studies have yet to confirm a direct link between parabens and breast cancer.
Other recent studies have concluded that the skin absorbs more chemicals from topical substances than was previously believed. Parabens and aluminum are common in conventional antiperspirant. I use Tom's of Maine deodorant (I'm partial to the calendula scent) for all of these reasons. I know that it isn't as strong as conventional brands, but I take comfort in knowing that I'm putting my long term health first.
I realize that the scientific community hasn't reached a definite conclusion about the link of antiperspirant, parabens, and breast cancer, but until then, I've decided to play it safe and lay off the antiperspirant.

I like the Tom's of Maine Calendula deodorant. When my temperature goes up, the smell of the calendula is so nice. It's a very nice, smooth, mild, flowery smell.
