Awesome book for local or far-away travellers

Written by international traveller Serena Bartlett, this tome sets out to entertain and inform. In the voice of one individual, sharing experiences of friends old and new, Serena discusses the best places to visit in Oakland. It's applicable to anyone, whether Oakland is your hometown--another city in your business region--or the layover destination on a longish vacation flight.

It's a bit like Yelp except in one voice, more credible, more comprehensive, and categorized according to themes such as: get active, up early, exploring, gett inspired, getting lunch, staying up late, crowds, get pampered, or a Rick Steves-esque "see it for free" section. These are all useful ways of gathering up a vacation itinerary--you can choose one or more of these filters. Since I've lived in North Oakland for a while now and got the midnight tour from a friend nearly a decade ago, I know most of the good places to visit. And there are many! No wonder all the cool kids live here.. ;)
