Expensive, Old & Used
Here I go with "expensive" again but... why should salvaged stuff be so costly? Ohmega Salvage has piles and rows and scads of things -- I looked at a glass light cover for the bulb over my front door. You know - the basic jar kind with white sides and a clear bottom -- they wanted $15 (and had about 200 of the same item on a shelf). It's not that vintage and it's not that uncommon -- but everything there seems super overpriced to me.
It's fantastic that they are encouraging recycling and reuse but the phenomenon of reselling used stuff for way more than it is worth or what you paid to acquire it baffles me. At least they are willing to bargain at Goodwill!
I do like to wander through Ohmega Salvage from time to time - it's a great spot to practice some photography and to look at some of the cool (and crappy) stuff they have.
Jenn's keywords: salvage, building recycling, bathtubs, doorknobs, fireplace mantles, faucets, doors, windows
