Made a reservation for 8:30 on a Saturday night, so we figured it would be busy and things could be a bit slow. However, our experience at Opus 39 was beyond bad.
First, the waiter took 15 minutes just to get us 2 menus and water after we sat down. We had one menu, but he said he needed to get us 2. Not sure why since it is is a 5 course, fixed menu offering.
Second, after placing our "order", we were ushered to a "wine tasting" area in the back of the place. I stumbled across this restaurant while wandering slightly off the main path of downtown, old town St. Augustine. The brochure in a holder outside on their porch read, "a 5 course meal with organic, locally-sourced ingredients to create a new menu daily..." I had to try this! The food was extremely creative, fresh and delicious, and it was really great to know the thoughtfulness the owners put into bringing this whole culinary experience together for you. Organic and locally sourced seasonal selection of produce, seafood and meats really do make a difference in the quality of your food. They even had a wine room in the back where you could taste the wines to choose to go with your meal. There was also art decorating the walls from local artists. Talk about high quality - sustainable eating can be extremely high quality!
