You Deserve the Best - Organic Cotton Bedding!

Coyuchi organic cotton sheets are really fantastic -- they are sustainably produced and dyed. I found a great deal on the sheets on Green Home (Pomegranate Sateen http://www.greenhome.com/products/bedding/sheets/112375/ and Wisteria Damask http://www.greenhome.com/products/bedding/sheets/111073/).

These high thread count sheets are soft and smooth -- they have worn very well over the past year. They are very comfortable and wash well.

Choosing organic cotton is important -- it's one of the most heavily pesticided crops on the planet. The high level of irrigation used in farming means a lot of weeds and bugs -- one crop of cotton might be sprayed 30-40 times in a season. Up to 25 per cent of the world's total annual production of pesticides and 10 per cent of all herbicides produced are specifically for cotton.

According to the Coyuchi site, 1.25 pounds of chemicals are used to produce a single queen-size sheet in California. That's a lot of chemicals -- it doesn't just affect the cotton (think about what is in the sheets!) but affects the farmers, the land and the entire ecosystem. If cotton were grown organically, the use of pesticides would decrease 25% worldwide.

Comfortable and nice

After reading about the absurd amount of pesticides and herbicides used in cotton monoculture farming, I got really interested in buying organic cotton bed sheets when I moved to college. These were the cheapest brand that came in twin extra long size, but are not low quality. They feel nice and natural, although they're not the softest sheets ever, but they have worked well at keeping me warm but not too warm. Great deal and good product.
