Organic, sulfite free red wine.
BuyMust admit the first sip is a bit harsh, but once past this lite red wine is very enjoyable!
This is the ONLY wine I have ever enjoyed. It does not make me sick in any way like others do. If you are sensitive to sulfites and other additives, THIS is a wine that you may enjoy as well, without the awful side effects that you may experience with other non-organic, sulfite-containing wines.
My husband and I call this our "Happy Wine" because that is exactly how we feel when sharing a bottle of it.
We have had other organic wines, but none with the happy side effect that this one imparts.
HIGHEST Recommendation!

Hi all. I came across the review of the Cote Zero and found that a common complaint was that the wine seemed bitter. Because organic wines don't use preservatives such as sulfur dioxide to inhibit micro-organisms, most producers want an entirely complete fermentation (all the sugar converted to alcohol) in order to make the wine stable. Many commercial wines are finished "off-dry"--meaning that they have a bit of residual (unfermented) sugar remaining in the wine. This sugar give a richer mouth feel and helps cover the bitterness that comes from the tannin found in red wines. Tannin can be reduced by adding proteins to the wine, but these proteins, such as casein (milk), albumin (eggs) and gelatin (cows) come from animals and thus make the wine non-vegan friendly. So--don't expect organic wines to be like most commercial wines

Just worked our way through a bottle of this wine (2006 bottle) and LOVED it.
Not sure why so many negative reviews but possibly in the US sweeter tasting wines are more the norm?
Found it resembled a favourite Israeli wine but had the added bonus of being organic and w/out sulphites.
Gorgeous body and adored the full tannin taste.
Yum!

A cheap bottle of wine is a cheap bottle of wine -- being organic or biodynamic doesn't necessarily mean it will taste better. I really wanted to like "Cote Zero" but the tannins were too overpowering. Decanting it for an hour and swirling a few grains of sugar into my glass really helped it out a lot.

I thought this wine could be better; two stars for effort and making it using organic agricultural methods.
It was pretty dry and both smelled and tasted of rubbing alcohol. I'd drink it if there wasn't other wine around, which was the case today.

But I would probably give this a 1.5 for the taste. It's just not up to par with the red wines I prefer and I have been trying organic red wines lately (from Honig, Frog's Leap). I like the label and it's under $10. It's drinkable, just not my style.

Not good. I am not even a wine snob, it just didn't taste right!

Don't buy this bottle...just don't. It was super dry from start to finish and left a horrible aftertaste.

the wine is bad...bad tasting and bad aftertaste

A bitter, metallic taste is not what I look for in a bottle of wine. It had to force it down my throat just so I wouldn't feel bad about wasting something. I'll turn to Two-Buck Chuck any day over this stuff.
