Creammmy-licious

I've been keeping my eye out for Straus yogurt for quite some time. I found it recently - I guess it was hidden in plain site. It's now my absolute fav! I love the rich, creamy consistency - not too runny, not too thick - for me, it's just right. Unlike Nancy's yogurt, which I consider unusually tart, Straus' sweet creaminess is balanced with a pleasant tartness that doesn't put my teeth on edge. I like to immerse my granola in Strauss yogurt, and use my finger to lick up the cream that coats the inside of the bowl. What little remains, my cat patiently waits his turn to enjoy.

My favorite yogurt

Straus organic whole milk yogurt is the best, it has a thick, creamy texture that doesn't curdle and a rich mild taste.

I know people who eat this with fruit, and who use it for smoothies, and who make sauces with it, and probably somebody out there hides the carton and calls it 'lite' sour cream.

I just use a spoon, and sometimes a bowl.

Probiotics are yummy.

Probiotic bacterial cultures assist the body's naturally occurring gut flora to replenish themselves. Basically that means that the cultures in yogurt keep the good bacteria growing in your body. This yogurt is organic and good for you, but I wish it were a little thicker. This is great with fruit, nuts and honey.

The ultimate yogurt

When someone says they don't like yogurt, I tell them to try Straus whole milk. It never fails, no one doesn't like this, it's too rich, and mild, and sweet, with just enough tang to remind you you're eating yogurt.

If everything healthy tasted this good we'd all live to be 1000.

Been eating it for months...

... not years, yet. And since I'm not a baby cow I try to limit my intake, but you just can't stop thizzing with Straus'es wonderful-tasting creams! Good stuff, great people and values. I talked to Straus's regional VP of sales once, and he mentioned that they use cow methane and solar panels for electricity, among other things. Great company!

Straus is a local family-owned company run out of Tamales Bay. This definitely fits into my 100-mile diet.

Izzy loves it

Okay I think it's great but my little boy Izzy loves Straus plain. Sometimes he likes it with raisins, but he eats gobs of it straight up with a spoon. One suggestion, though, what about going with the glass container like you do for your milk? I go crazy with plastic containers.

A leetle sour, but super creamy and organic!

This yogurt is really great because it tastes super creamy, is made locally and 100% organic. It has a leetle sour taste to it, but I think that's how most yogurts taste. I'm going to try it with some raw organic honey next time.

This kind is European style which is more liquidy than "American-style" yogurt, like Dannon or Yoplait. It tastes more natural this way. I also heard that yogurt is good for keeping the good bacteria in and the bad bacteria out of your colon - All the more reason to eat more yogurt!

Straus is the boss.

Yogurt is one of the foods I eat that MUST be organic. I’m not sure if it is all in my head or for real, but when I eat non-organic yogurt I taste the chemicals. It must be the artificial flavoring. Anyway, I’m always on the lookout for new good organic yogurts, and I finally found one I think I’ll stick with for a while: Straus Organic European-Style Yogurt (plain, whole milk). It’s on the thicker, creamier side, although still not as heavy as actual European yogurts, but that’s ok because I hear that some of those companies add unnatural thickeners, which is no good. I also learned that unlike other yogurt companies that cook their yogurt in their plastic cups, Straus incubates their yogurt in stainless steel vats before pouring the cooling yogurt into the cups. Sounds good to me! I add raw honey and fresh organic fruits to this yogurt and eat happily.

creamy without being overly-rich

I heard that Straus was the first organic dairy farm west of the Mississippi. It's certainly killer cream. Their plain whole milk yogurt is the bomb. It's so creamy and rich, it doesn't have any of that curdish lumpiness that runs through some yogurts. The texture is smooth and viscous. Also, the cows are fed organic feed and graze on healthy pastures, and no pesticides, hormones, or anti-biotics are used in their dairy products. Good for breakfast and also good for desert. I also love combining Straus yogurt with granola.
