Planettran is good for the environment, bad for workers
As long as I've been a customer at Planettran, I've been under the impression that the so-called all inclusive fare included a tip for the driver. Customer service told me this when I first started my account, and I'd always assumed it to be true. However, upon talking to a driver the other day, I found that this is not the case. The 18 percent gratuity that I was informed of never ends up in the driver's check. This is ridiculous and disgusting. Upon further talking with the driver (whose name I know, but will not disclose) I found out that all though he works ten hour days, he is only paid for nine hours, due to a break that he claims to never get. This is not the middle ages, nor even the turn of the twentieth century. It is time for fair compensation for these workers. I, for one, am disgusted, and will never use Planettran again.

Planettran Rocks!!
I've really enjoyed working for Planettran. So much so, that I returned to work for them a second time.
The owner, Seth Riney, is truly committed to safety and service, and is helping sustainability in the Boston area, as well as California, now. In fact, he makes a very positive impact in any community his business touches.
Although independent and artistic types, Planettran's drivers are extremely courteous and professional, and, as presumptuous as it sounds, better at holding an intellectual conversation than your average limo or cab driver.
Fortune 500 companies, particularly those with an interest in green operations, are turning to Planettran for their personal logistics needs.
One day, this company could be well known across the United States. Maybe even better than Yellow / Checker Cab.
If you live in an area served by these folks, I highly recommend giving them a call when you need a lift. They're slightly more than a cab, and less than a limo.

Actually, sir, I was a driver. I know the down sides of the job, and obviously there are some reasons leading to my moving on, though mostly it was personal. However, I would definately say this company can be... more »
