Change Cell Plan, Get a Solio Solar Charger FREE & Be a Working Assets Activist in One Click!

I am interested in a solar charger for my cell phone. I can also use the Solio on other handheld electronics such as my MP3 Player, digital camera, GPS.... It's FREE - with a purchase of an LG 150 flip phone, a $278 value, for only $69. Working Assets include a low monthly calling plan, and some great features at no additional cost. You can check to find out if there is coverage in your area on the website. This offer is good when your current contract is just about to expire. You simply call 1-800-496-2942 several days before expiration, and Working Assets will contact your provider. You can keep the same phone number.

Working Assets, activists partnering with consumers who use one of their services -whether wireless, long distance or credit card, sends donations to nonprofit groups working for a healthy environment, peace, equality, and human rights. In 20 years, WA has raised $50M for a plethora of environmental and social causes. Change Your Plan to help Change the World!

JUNK, JUNK, JUNK--Poor Customer service to boot

I bought this as a travel charger for my Blackberry. All I can say is awful, awful, awful. I followed instructions in the manual (which are pretty easy) and charged up the Solio. After waiting twice as long as required, I tried to plug it into my Blackberry 7250 to see how it charged--big mistake. Not only did it not charge a weird red "battery" icon came on in the upper left of the screen and then the blackberry promptly crashed.
I tried this routine several times over several days with the same result, rereading the manual so many times it was ridiculous. Finally, I had enough and told the customer service for Solio that I was returning it. Not only did they never return my money (I had to call my CC company to handle it) no one ever said what the problem could be.
My advice: Stay away from this thing--it may seen cool or environmentally friendly, but it is junk a piece of over-priced junk.

Solio doesn't live up to the hype

I purchased three Solios at the Green Festival last year, planning to give two as gifts. But I found that the Solio I purchased does not gain enough charge to fully power my cell phone, even after a couple of days in a south facing window. So I decided to return the two unopened "gift" Solios, and was able to do that, after quite a bit of argument with the people at the office in Berkeley.

I would not recommend this product, but perhaps the newer model has solved the problems in the early version I got.

Pretty cool, net energy gain

I have a solio myself and leave it in my home window facing south. I don't do the recommended "put a pencil in it and re-orient to the sun every ten" tip, but it charges up to full four blinks over the course of a few days. Which is when I need to charge my phone again.

Pretty cool piece of sand and petro-plastic. It may seem silly, but it's a start. I'd also recommend the similar but more cheaply made solar spotlight which is available at Target. Not that I like supporting a national chain store which doesn't reinvest in the community as much as a local store might:

I'd like to see a pedal-powered phone charger!

Solio Portable Solar Charger

I love telling people that I have a Solar-powered cell phone! I have a regular cell phone but use my Solio to charge it. I can also charge my Mp3 player, digital Camera, rechargeable batteries, GPS and any other small devices using the power of the sun. One of the best features is that it holds the charge so if you are off camping in the rain with no sun in sight, you can still use the solar powered Solio to charge your devices. I can't wait til they come out with one strong enough to power my laptop.

creative and smart charger

The solio is a really smart and creative charger for the growing population of portable electronic devices. Once they offer various sizes and price points to the market it will do very well.
