Wow, pressurized air cleared my serious standing water tub clog. The first time I didn't have my free hand on the overflow, like they suggest. This is key, as stuffing a rag in that opening isn't enough. I used a wad of plastic bags and the second try I held it firm and poof - the drain was running free again. I could smell the compressed air that escaped from the overflow once I let go, it came out in a cloud, and so wonder about the contents that keep it pressurized. But it has to be 100% better than allowing caustic lye and other toxins down our drains and into our waterways. If the enzyme products don't work for you, especially when you have standing water, try this instead. We found ours at a local Ace Hardware.

Enzymes are the truly "eco-friendly" method for plugged drains, but...I never remember to put enzymes down my drains once a month.
The Power Plumber is just a can of compressed air. To use it, you fill up your tub or sink with water, and then give the drain a short burst of the compressed air, which then pushes the hair/grease clog out of the drain.
I used it on my bathroom tub (which was totally clogged) and bathroom sink (which was partly clogged), and it worked instantly. Plus, it was great to know I hadn't just poured poison down the drain.
I have used it a total of 4 times, and it still has leftover air (the product label says it is good for 15 applications).
I don't know what kind of gas is contained in the Power Plumber can; the product information says "It contains no harsh chemicals, acids, or lye. It is non-polluting and will not contaminate ground water. Even the can is recycleable!" I got that information from the following website: www.jelmar.com/CLRproducts.asp
