The best meat in San Francisco, courtesy of Prather Ranch

If you're a meat eater, try and get access to Prather Ranch Meat. These guys distribute in Ferry Plaza and a few other places. They have a farm a few hours away, and take exceptional care of their animals. These are pasture raised meats that are mostly slaughtered onsite, and supplementally fed with organic feed. I think this meat tastes far better than Niman Ranch. Their steaks grill up as good as a 5 star steakhouse, and their pork, lamb, and buffalo are all very tasty. Most of all, I appreciate how informed the ranch hands are (they also come work the counter in SF at the Ferry Building). These guys clearly have a great respect for the land, and their livestock, and the family that runs this business truly put quality and care above all else. It's not a surprise that the meats they sell are purchased and prepared by many of the great chefs in the Bay Area. These guys have solid values, and that makes for excellent meat.
