Address map 643 Vanderbilt Ave.My girlfriend and I were very excited when we signed up for this service. We both appreciate food, freshness and variety. However, this failed for us on several counts.
Firstly, the Thursday night pickup was really not ideal. Unless we used a lot of the produce that very night it would mostly sit until Sunday as we are normally out on Fridays and Saturdays. This leads to the second issue - the food simply didn't last. My experience with most local/organic produce is that they will often last longer than other foods. This was not the case here. If we didn't eat the lettuce within about a day it was quickly down hill. Heartier items did last a handful of days but we felt we had to eat all these vegetables right this second or we were wasting food and money. And lastly, maybe the reason nothing lasted for us is everything came out of the boxes soaking wet. What is the reason for this? I know this makes things looks fresher and cleaner under the lights at the supermarket, but this stuff's already paid for! So, if you want to have your food last through the weekend, especially greens, be prepared to come home and wash and dry all of them that night.
All things being equal this probably would have worked for us if pickup was on Sunday or Monday.
It's a good thing, and I hope it works out for others.
