Natural food store providing a wide range of healthy and natural products - chemical-free personal care items, organic produce, vitamins and mineral supplements, homeopathics and herbal remedies.
Address map 211 E Matilija StI have many fond memories of Rainbow Bridge from my childhood. I am not sure they still make them, but they made the most amazing "Chicken" tofu sticks ever! The deli is amazing and has wonderful options and when I return home for holiday visits I am usually impressed by their beer and wine selection. I will have to echo the concerns express by another reviewer... pricing! PHEW! It is very expensive. I can only imagine how hard it is to run a single health food store in terms of finances, but I am hoping that Rainbow Bridge can find a way to make it more financially accessible.

I love Rainbow Bridge too -- these are the reasons I love it:
1) The prepared food is so good.
2) It's all we have.
And that's just it: aside from Trader Joe's, a thirty-five minute drive away, it's all we have. But it could be so much better. I dream of a similar store, but of one that is more accessible to the general population of Ojai -- both financially and culturally.
My dream is for Ojai to have a market like Carrboro/Chapel Hill, NC's Weaver Street Market, a successful coop that has become the de facto town center.
How amazing would it be if this store not only had delicious food and good products, but if it had a cheese counter, a butcher, a bakery, a coffee bar... but more importantly, everyone could afford the place and everyone felt like they belonged?
Check out Weaver Street Coop, and if you hold any sway (or $$) in Ojai, why not start this here? http://www.weaverstreetmarket.coop/
Ojai is the perfect place for this.

For as long as I can remember I have had the pleasure of enjoying this store. I have seen them grow and add products in consideration of the environment, fine taste, and the demands of their customers. The people that run this exceptional store are friendly and well versed in their products, the owners are environmentally aware without being preachy or pompous. Ernest thoughtfully exudes his joy for living, nonjudgmental attitude, love and acceptance of others, as he shares his belief in their store concept. He infuses every conversation with his good spirit and right intentions. The owners love of their store and their understanding of the importance of selling green products and quality natural foods shows in all that they do. Stores like this are precious, and the experience of Rainbow Bridge and more importantly the people that make this store wonderful everyday are something to treasure. A shopping trip here is a delicious healthy bright spot in any day.

We do shop here and the produce is lovely. However, there are plenty of stocked goods that are not organic/"green". Shoppers should b e aware and read labels. more »

It is unfortunate to focus on the negative(the fact that to provide what the community demands there are some non-organic products), rather than the many positives beyond their produce. However, I agree that people... more »
