It is very interesting to learn that in developing countries, although baptisms in Africa far out-number baptisms in Europe, North and South America combined, which is even five times greater in Asia, it is not uncommon for pastors in those areas to be without a Bible. It is estimated by the major publishers of Bibles that American Christians have, on the average, nine Bibles per household.
Christian Resources International (CRI) estimates that 122,000 people accept Christ every day, most of them are in Africa, Asia and South America. CRI has a Bible re-gifting program called "Operation Bare Your Bookshelf" that will take our extra Bibles and ship them overseas so that the multitudes wanting to read a Bible will finally have the opportunity.
If you go to the CRI website, and fill out their sign-up form, CRI will send, without cost to you, all the materials you need to mail a Bible overseas. [Note: You will pay the shipping cost to re-gift your Bible.]
