Eeek! Not the worst thing in the entire world if that was the ONLY toxic hazard but then there is a long list of other harmful toxins out there and you add it all up and it’s not pretty.
Solution…
1) As a parent you try to eliminate what you know is harmful.
2) As a parent you try to eliminate what you know is potentially harmful.
I like to equate this to walking across the street and my toddler. A) I eliminate the danger of my children walking across the street alone because they are not aware that that a car could turn the corner in two seconds – they are a TODDLER. I hold their hand and we walk across together safely. B) I know it is safe to play in my driveway, although the road is close by I see a potential hazard and I’m not certain of the dangers – therefore I supervise at all times to be safe and protect them.
