Address map 330 Shaw RdOur "Wine Country Wedding" was held in June 2007. It was to be under a full moon and star-studded. I come from a truly international, epicurean family. Our wedding guests came from Europe, Asia, Micronesia, Australia and from all corners of the USA. The pressure was on to find a caterer that could respect Euro-Asian palates and multi-cultural worship of food and family. Heather and Chad were a dream team. From the moment we met them in their South San Francisco, rustic and inviting tasting kitchen/room we fell in LOVE with their obvious passion for food, joy in nurturing their guests. My bridesmaid came all the way from the island of Guam with her new beau (now husband and father of their first son) to find a caterer. Instantly, Heather and Chad made us feel 'like family'. They completely exuded generosity and amazed us with their penchance for quality and service that was elegant but unpretentious.
Heather was a doll in helping to refine the menu to fit our vision and budget during the months prior to the wedding. On the BIG DAY, with 180 guests to feed at a private Napa estate, their staff was a fine tuned production dance company. Dressed in sage green, poised and professional, they all came on time and set up efficiently. On perfect cue, the passed hors d'hoevres and mojitos came out RIGHT as we ended our marriage ceremony. My food snob aunties from France and Asia were duly impressed and even offered profuse accolades.
We had ~10 'unexpected' international guests show up on the DAY of the wedding! Without missing a beat, Heather was able to accommodate them and prevented an emotional melt-down by the bride! At the end of the day, we could not have asked for more from our top choice of caterers.
Be forewarned that such 'haute cuisine' lovingly made with sustainable, locally grown foods was NOT inexpensive. But we definitely got what we paid for and more importantly, we were thrilled to support a family-owned business that KNOWS their business

For our wedding, an outdoor affair at a private residence in Sonoma County, my (now) wife and I wanted a caterer that provided sustainable foods. Rising Sun turned out to be the perfect choice. Owned and operated by a husband-wife team--Heather handles the floor, Chad's the chef--they made the transition to green after their child got sick, and a switch to organic foods solved the problem. Their food was sensational, from the aspargus lasagna to the roasted lamb. Heather made suggestions for the event that enhanced the experience, such as serving family style, rather than having a buffet. Their set-up, serving trays, and style all get high marks for aesthetics. And the service was exactly right: unobtrusive, friendly, punctual, and smart. Ex-caterer friends at the wedding remarked on Rising Sun's overall excellence. I can't recommend them more highly.
