Aluminum-Free! Rumford Baking Powder
I don't recall how the topic of aluminum in baking powder came up in our conversation, but it was news to me! Sure enough, I checked the baking powder I have in my pantry, and both brands, Clabber Girl and Calumet, have sodium aluminum sulfate. Out they went!
I have since replaced those brands with the Rumford brand (as in Count Rumford, scientist and inventor), a calcium acid phosphate baking powder with bicarbonate of soda, and cornstarch (NOT derived from genetically modified corn), gluten-free, made in a peanut-free factory. The can is not made of aluminum either. It's made of steel.

Aluminum Free Baking Powder!
Who knew that so many modern baking powders contain aluminum? I was so pleased to find that an old favorite like Rumford's was still making the same baking powder that they have been making for years, and without the addition of potentially harmful metals! Baking cookies shouldn't be a stressful endeavor!
