Delicious, fresh bread...
Phoenix Pastificio makes some of the most fantastic breads around. If I get to the farmer's market in Berkeley early enough -- I can manage to buy a delicious olive baguette. If you get there too late, say 11 or later -- they may be sold out of bread. The bread just hops off the table and runs away -- I swear it!
Phoenix Pastificio also makes great pasta and often has a variety of vegan pastas on hand. Do your tummy a favor and get up early to get over and try some of their delicious food!

Most delicious bread, especially if you love olives!
my friend was excited to introduce me to this bread at the Berkeley farmer's market last week. i thought we'd get a baguette and share it, but she insisted on getting her own, convinced that once i sampled hers, i would want my own too. she was right. the baguette was still warm, the texture light and chewy (it kind of reminded me of fried mochi when it was sitll hot?), and baked into the bread were organic whole kalamata olives! i'd consider myself a bit of a bread snob (i love breads in europe and japan, i enjoy acne bread in the bay area), and i was sooo happy to eat this bread. the bread was excellent the next day too, i toasted it lightly and shared it with my family, who also loved it. i very highly recommend Phoenix Pastificio, and if you don't like olives, i'm sure their other breads are also very good. if you miss the farmer's market, they have a bakery in North Berkeley off University Ave.
