Petroleum-free Interior Paint

It seems as though every paint company is making their version of an 'eco-friendly' latex paint these days. While these low or zero VOC paints are better than the alternative, all of them still contain unregulated synthetic chemicals and petroleum based ingredients. The main film forming ingredient of latex paint is acrylic, which is a plastic. I do not want plastic on my walls!

AFM Safecoat Naturals paint is made completely from organically sourced plant oils and minerals, mixed with water. In essence, it has the ease of application of a water-based latex and the smoothness of an oil-based. Plus, Naturals is completely water clean up. No nasty solvents are needed for cleaning your brushes.

While there is no solvent smell with AFM Safecoat Naturals, it does have a distinct flax oil smell during application. I look at it as a pleasant reminder that I'm doing something good for myself, my family and the environment by avoiding the typical plastics and chemicals. There are a few other companies making similar products in Europe, but this is the ONLY one made in the US. To me, this is about as 'green' as it gets!
