Seed Savers offers a good variety of heirloom seeds and you can even buy plants, though the shipping cost makes them a bit expensive. If you become a member you can exchange seeds with members across the country. Last year I bought tomato plants and basil seeds from them. The tomatoes were great and the basil was also good. If you are having trouble finding heirloom plants locally then this is a great alternative.
If I could give this place 100 stars, I would. I purchased a handful of varieties of heirloom flower and vegetable seeds from them this year, and I can't wait to reap the benefit of this. The organization is fabulous - they are doing the very important work of keeping heirloom varieties from going extinct. And nothing beats an heirloom tomato fresh off the vine in the summer. And their farm is beautiful. And they care about the environment! I love supporting businesses like this.
