Serious About Eco-Friendly Building Materials

I just saw a great video about a Bay Area company that is revolutionizing froman engineer for one of the divisions of this company (www.quietsolution.com) -- Kent sent this video of a newscast featuring his company out to his friends:

The company's website states that "The ‘built environment’ is responsible for 52% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide – which compares to only 9% for cars and light trucks."

I was surprised to learn that 1% of all energy consumed by the building industry is for baking drywall! That's pretty shocking -- but Serious Materials is working on a solution: drywall with ingredients that "bake" themselves in 4 minutes! That's pretty amazing.

Serious Materials goal is to cut those figures by reengineering common products that use or lose the most energy, creating local plants with thousands of green-collar jobs here in the U.S.

One of their products is drywall that requires 90% less energy to produce than conventional drywall -- check out the website!
