Recently Shopper's Corner had several energy consultants in to see how they could be more energy efficient. The consultants said that they the store was better than most in the area but did have a couple of suggestions to be even better. Shoppers made all the upgrade with more energy efficient cooler fans and sensors on the freezer doors which reduce the amount of power being used by the unit. It was an extremely costly upgrade especially for a small independent, but now they have them most energy efficient equipment on the market and are being socially responsible taking into consideration all the stakeholders that could be affected by their business operations. They recycle their waste and make many charitable donations to local schools and to programs that help feed the local elderly.

They have been talking with Solar Technologies, exploring the option of covering their roof with solar panels too.

Shoppers is probably the biggest supporter of local products in the area. Some of the oldest businesses in Sana Cruz got their start and are still in business today by selling their products at Shoppers.
