Carlo Petrini started the Slow Food Movement back in 1986. Today, Slow Food conviviums are located in over 100 countries with over 80,000 members world wide. Our B&B is a member of the Willamette Valley Slow Food Convivium...you can search slowfoodusa.org to find a convivium nearest you. Here, Slow Food Eugene recently hosted a Pig Roast fundraiser at Creative Growers (organic) Farm in Noti. A great Slow Food event coming up, before year's end, is on September 28 and 29 - Portland's Food Party Of The Year to benefit the James Beard Foundation and the proposed Public Market at the historic Union Station.
The book about Slow Food is a facinating read about the inception and history of the movement, the Slow Food publications - the magazine "Slow", special issue "the snail' and newsletters are a weath of information on how this movment is having a global impact on the future of food.

PROMOTE LOCAL FOOD
EXCELLENT ORGANIZATION TO PROMOTE LOCAL FOOD. THE IDEA BEHIND THE ORGANIZATION FOUNDED IN ITALY WAS A REBUTTAL AGAINST THE ATTEMPTED INFILTRATION OF MCDONALDS. INSTEAD OF RELYING ON FAST FOOD, FOCUS ON LOCAL FOOD AND TRADITIONAL CULTURAL COOKING. THERE ARE LOCAL CHAPTERS; CHECK THEM OUT AT WWW.SLOWFOOD.IT.
