Very good soy-free vegan protein!

After an exhaustive search, I have turned up a few brands of soy-free vegan vegetable protein that have a lot of good nutrients and don't over-do the amount of protein (which will just be flushed out by your body anyway).

Naturade Soy-Free Veg is a great choice -- though not organic, they claim "all natural" and blend protein from pea, rice, potato, barley and spirulina to create a balanced supply of amino acids. Methionine and lysine are added to match the amino acid profile of animal protein.

Note to the shopper: you may find the 32 oz size much cheaper online (Try VitaCost.com) than on the company's website.

The flavor is pretty basic -- not offensively flavored -- and easily improved by using vanilla flavored almond milk or with a couple spoons of raw cacao powder. I also add a couple tablespoons of ground flax seeds for extra protein and fiber and a scoop of green food. Yum!
