You know what I mean - a stress snack is something you want to gnaw on or crunch when you're working under a deadline -- something with more flavor and less resistance than your pencil (ouch! was that the metal eraser band?).
I first tried Soy Jerky at Green Festival in 2006 -- I approached with trepidation, but found that they actually taste pretty good. There is a wide variety of flavors, and the jerky does tend to be on the more tough/hard scale (as opposed to the weird texture of say a Slim Jim).
Their packaging leaves a bit to be desired though -- it's just a solid mass of vacuum sealed plastic and I know there must be a better way.
Just be careful to not overdo it with the soy -- and snack away.

Ive been a vegetarian for about 7 years now and the one thing I missed badly was beef jerky. Then I found out there was soy jerky so I have tried many different kinds, and this stuff wasn't really up to standards compared to the rest. I liked the texture of it, very hard and chewy, but the taste wasn't great and it left a weird after taste in my mouth. If you want the best soy jerky I would try Tofurky Jurky, It is awesome!

I tried this product at the Green Festival in Chicago this past week (4/2007) and I really wanted it to taste good, but it didn't. Normally I'm the kind of vegetarian girl that will make some kind of allowances in the taste department if it meets some other requirement, mainly being vegetarian, but this stuff is just pretty bad. Maybe it was the tiny bit sized pieces the jerky was chopped into, but I tried it twice, and in different flavors as well, and still I couldn't like it. I was really hoping for chewy, tangy jerky and was disappointed.

I love it! The texture satisfies my oral fixation and the taste gives me a kick.

I tasted Tasty Eats soy jerky products never having tried soy jerky before, and expecting an utterly unsatisfactory vegetarian version of beef jerky. Better to just leave jerky to the meat-eaters, was my opinion. But the Tasty Eats jerkies are pretty good. The Hot & Spicy in particular was nice, but across the board the texture of the jerkies is remarkably similar to that of good old fashioned beef jerky.

I don't eat beef anymore because I don't trust its safety, and for general health reasons. But I used to love eating beef jerky.
Not all soy-based "meats" are up to snuff, but this is. All the flavor and texture without any of the crap, or mad cow.

When I went vegetarian, the taste and convenience of jerky was something I really missed. But then I found Soy Jerky. It's great, it comes in several flavors, and most of them are delicious!
Whether or not you like beef jerky, this is a great high-protein, low fat snack. I often keep a package or two in my desk drawer at work for an afternoon snack. The packages look small, but they'll last for a few days worth of snacking. The taste and texture is similar to beef jerky, but more tender and less gristly. Tasty Eats makes 8 different flavors, so you're sure to find one that suites you.

When I saw "soy jerky" I thought it just sounded weird, but I thought: I like soy (soy milk, soy beans, tofu) and I like jerky, usually of the beef variety, so I approached the booth. Taste test--YUM! Tasty Eats Soy Jerky has the satisfying chew of beef jerky but the healthy steroid-free mad-cow safe benefits of soy! I will be picking up more of this stuff in the stores.

I loved the Teriyaki and the Original flavors. The Peppered flavor left me coughing. Literally! Yummy stuff.

This absolutely hits the spot if you're in the mood for beef jerky--except, surprise--without the beef!
This is a hands-down much healthier alternative.
They have an assortment of flavors, but my favorites are Teriyaki, Hot and Spicy, and Jamaican Chicken are tops. (note the Jamaican Chicken has zero grams of sugar, forgot the sodium level but it's low, low, low.

This is a wonderfully delicious and nutritious product. I tasted this product last year and became addicted to it instantly. The same thing this year. Please try this product. Found in many health food stores.

Greetings from the Green Festival in San Francisco. I'm sitting at a SustainLane Booth with a great view of the Main Stage, where Amy Goodman is speaking passionately about the growth of opposition movements in the US and around the world. She is also speaking about the Mainstream Media (how it is like a corporate whore). Yes, by all means, let's take over the media!
I just bought ten packs of Soy Jerky, and I've started munching on the first one. I love to eat these at events like this because they are tasty, take a long time to eat, and provide enough sustenance to get through a whole day of great activity without taking time out to eat a real meal. Each contains 4 grams of protein and 45 calories, and 0% bad stuff. They also come in a variety of flavors, which makes it more fun (my favorites are "Hot Spicy" and "Ginger." I'm thinking that I ought to keep a regular supply of these around for everyday life.
Amy has finally gotten around to Cindy Sheehan.
