After hearing about all the garbage in mainstream sunscreens I through out my Banana Boat and Neutrogena for this Badger Mineral Sunscreen. To me the consistency is similar to Neutrogena. It is a thick white paste that goes on smooth. Granted its a bit harder to apply than Banana Boat, but I think the natural aspect makes me feel like that is not a problem at all. The smell is nice but to me barely noticeable. And that is a good thing. I personally don't like a sunscreen that competes with my other summer scents. As for how well it works?
Call me crazy but I tried this. I rubbed Badger sunscreen on my left ear but not my right. Then I went out for a boat ride, picnic, and then came home about 7 hours later. My right ear had started burning 2 hours in, but I splashed some water on it and ignored it for the sake of this test. The left ear did fine. When I hit 4 hours I just HAD to apply some badger because I was really burning there. My left ear? Fine as anything can be. Same for the rest of my skin.
In terms of washing it off I had some trouble with it remaining on my skin. But what sunscreen doesn't? I like this stuff. Only reason why it is a 4 star Sunscreen is because I know citrus essential oils increase photosensitivity. Yet badger has 5 different types of citrus on its ingredients list. Counterproductive?

Not as greasy and shiny as UV Naturals. That's a plus. Thicker paste, easy to apply, but even though it's micronized leaves a white tint on my face. Is shiny and never fully absorbs because it's so "moisturizing?". It's an okay sunscreen and doesn't cost much. I bought mine on sale for $10.50, but it's normally $15 for 3oz. I wear foundation over mine to minimize the white tint. I got use to the strong smell, but don't recommend it for sensitive noses.

My husband and I used this sunblock on our trip to Colorado and it worked really well. I am very pale and my skin can start turning pink very quickly. Thanks to this SPF I am as pale as ever! Used it on my face as well and it worked, but it seemed to make me break out perhaps because of the rich ingredients which moisturize very well. Also, it make me a bit pastier than usual but it was worth it.
