Address map 138 6th StYes, unfortunately you will have to tread on sleazy sixth in order to eat at this delightful establishment. Fortunately, it will be well worth your time, believe you me. I went here last week and had an amazing meal. A friend and I split lunch for under $25. We had a specialty pizza (house made crust, don't remember what kind of cheese, peaches, pork sausage and a cracked egg in the middle), a pork sugo sandwich (basically a pork sloppy joe) and some plum bread pudding. All were great, although I think the pizza was my favorite. Definitely recommend this place.
Soup was pretty good, their apple pie is nice and the crostada is good in the morning.
This place is pricy and in a sketch area, but worth it. Of course all utensils (per SF regulations) were compostable.

I really wanted to like this place because they use only compostables and their menu changes every day so the ingredients are seasonal and from small farms. And they have nice staff. BIG PLUS. A BIG CRY FOR 5 STARS.
But #1: The bin for composting doesn't look like a compost can, it looks like a trash can. If that's in an attempt to make it so that the trash SHOULD be compost, cool and I agree. But what if someone walks in there with a plastic bag and throws it in there because they don't know better? Does it defeat the purpose?
But #2: Nobody told me there would be coconut on top of a tres leches cupcake! Ew. The bean salad was just a huge pile of green beans, why not throw in some more variety? Read: the food's not quite there yet.
I hope I can amend my review in the future.

My first dining experience with Split Pea Seduction was mostly hits, and only one miss. It's a great new green (super green as in local, organic, seasonal) lunch spot.
Hit: Big portions
Hit: Puff pastry. The main item served, the crostata, is made with puff pastry topped with savory and sweet toppings like strawberries, wild mushrooms, and salt pork. Puff pastry = buttery bready goodness.
Hit: Compostable packages, and flatware
Hit: Reasonable prices
Hit: General deliciousness. My strawberry salad with hazelnuts and cheese was color balanced and yummy. My co-worker's leek and wild mushroom crostata was perfect too.
Miss: My sardine crostata with marinara reached a fruity peakedness that I was none too fond of. I made a bit of the tart face when I ate it.
I will be back to try everything.

my coworker mentioned this place just opened up, and i'm always looking for new digs to eat downtown. we headed over and found this little slice of brown and green heaven. I ordered the mushroom-leek crostini and potato-leek soup, but realized quickly that their menu rotates daily depending on what ingredients they can get. All ingredients are sourced locally, and everything you eat on/with are compostable. the owner was super nice (sarah), and happy to talk about their menu with me. my tummy and my wallet are happy now.
