Reusable Drinking Straws - Getting to the Bottom of It

I've been researching plastic eating gear for years now, and I finally made my way around to checking out plastic drinking straws. I learned that most disposable straws are made from #2 and #5 plastics which are both typically BPA-free naturally. Environmentally speaking both #2 and #5 plastics are also recyclable. That's the good news, but the bad news is that most people don’t recycle straws and McDondald’s alone served over 50 million meals in 2008! Can you imagine the sheer number of straws laying in the landfill?
