Kefir and smoothies to go

I love kefir, and Lifeway's organic raspberry has been my favorite, yet hard to find in stores, until now. You can buy any of their kefir bottles at their cafe in Wicker Park, including the new (to me at least) flavors of peach and blueberry. You can also mix and match flavors, fresh fruit ingredients and/or nut and cookie toppings for a smoothie or parfait. Frankly I find their menu of options a bit confusing, so I just tell the person what I want and she makes my favorite smoothie blends.
In their small refrigerated section they also sell something called chocolate cheese - I haven't tried this yet, but I'm definitely curious. (Apparently it's chocolate cream cheese). The cafe is cute and bright with colors, less so than their dizzy website graphics. The prices may seem a bit high, but these are organic ingredients and very good for your intestinal health. This is a test location, but if successful they will expand with more cafes. Also their plastic drink cups are biodegradable. Try one today!

The chocolate cheese isn't just cream cheese FYI. It's also got the 10 live and active probiotic cultures. The plain is also really good. It's nice to enjoy on some toast with some jam or honey. more »
