Bio Bags rock!

A great replacement for plastic bags. I work for a trade show decorator and we use them at every show. In fact, we liked BioBags so much that we use them in place of vinyl tabletops - saving our shows from the curse of pvc. BioBags is a great company with an inventive, open staff. Love them!

BioBag

What got me interested in this product is that it's approved by the San Francisco Department of the Environment. That's very intriguing. San Francsico just made plastic bags illegal, so hopefully they tested this as a viable alternative. I've found these bags to be good for storing veggies in the fridge. They just replaced all the plastic bags at farmers market where I live with these and they seem to be working well. Saves me from having to rinse out and dry plastic bags for reuse--when they are torn or begin to break down, I can just put in the old compost pile, which I haven't tried yet. They are GMO free corn product. I like the idea of putting corn and not petrochemicals next to my food.

Bio Bags upgraded, customer service degraded

I ordered Bio Bags when they were new on the market and paid over $50 for my order to support and promote the idea which is fabulous. I could not find a single viable use for the bags I received. Every grocery item I placed in the bags either tore the bags (any product with an edge such as a box) or began decomposing them instantly (any product with slight moisture). They would not hold any garbage or keep food in the fridge without tearing or decomposing within a few hours. The product has since been upgraded and appears to work as a good substitute to plastic bags although I have not tried them. It seems to be a very different product than the one I received. I emailed the company to tell them of the experience I had with their old product and to inquire of the improvements. I received a tart response that I should not be placing gravel in the bags or otherwise be using them inappropriately. I attempted to restate my use of the bags and express my dismay at their response and I never heard another word from them again. I did not ask for a refund but I feel it would be appropriate to provide me with a few samples of the new design, or some word or action of benevolence. I like the ideas and the improved product might be great, but the company needs to raise its integrity towards its customers in a manner consistent with the integrity of green products towards the earth. I give Dirt Works the lowest rating but hope that with my review they will consider upgrading themselves along with their products.
