I am not usually impressed by restaurants, but the food here was something special. The Blue Plate specializes in comfort food: meatloaf, chicken n' dumplings, corn on the cob, and a drunken goat cheese mac n' cheese that will quench the heart of any fromage-o-phile out there. I slobbered over sardine bruschetta, and was delighted by the presence of Taco Truck Style Corn on the Cob with Queso Fresco. And--you can get a can of Oly for a $1. A restaurant after my post northwestern college experience heart.

You'll have a very hard time choosing what to order in this great neighborhood restaurant. The Blue Plate is in a beautiful house of reclaimed wood and local art. The food is so creatively prepared, and even a simple arugula salad gets dressed up with delicate additions and surprising flavors (ALL the salads here are fabulous)...you can tell that the chefs are having fun in the kitchen! The Blue Plate uses seasonal and organic produce, and you'll find grass fed beef here, as well as seafood that has been sustainably caught. This place has a cafe-type casual atmosphere with excellent service (5 star), where you can go hang out for a few hours with your friends, but you don't sacrifice anything on the food. The Blue Plate easily matches or exceeds the "best" places in SF on food quality and flavor. Save room for dessert too, as you'll enjoy a seasonal fruit tart or some other killer warm chocolate pastry! They know how to prepare good food at fair prices. Dine in the outside garden!
