Future of Food Educational DVD Set Coming October 15, '07!

I rented Future of Food last spring, and was so impacted by it that I intended to buy the DVD for my home library, but now I'm glad I didn't get around to it just yet.

On October 15 ('07) The educational Future of Food DVD set will be released; added value is a year-long, 75-page, college-level environmental curriculum on a DVD ROM with active web links. The second DVD has several short films, research documents, plus an action toolkit, non-GMO recipes, along with the rights to show the film - a $200 package.

Miss Garcia's food revolution portrait

Deborah Koons Garcia, Jerry Garcia's widow, who is good friends with Alice Waters, produced this insightful documentary on the state of modern food. Though much of the film was depressing to me, even though I was already very familiar with the content, it ends with a light, as it highlights the "quiet revolution" spanning the horizon, in pockets here and there, and deep in the places you wouldn't expect otherwise to find it. Carlo Petrini and Alice Waters are leading this revolution, from the farm to the table. From the CSA box to LocalHarvest.org to educating kids about food to Michael Pollan, though this documentary doesn't go very indepth, it gives a nice portrait of the Food Revolution. It also left me on an inspiring note, quite to my surprise.
