Feed the Hungry

Back in 1999, a resident of Indiana, took it upon himself to found The Hunger Site, using the internet to fight world hunger. Nine months and nine million pounds of food later, shipped all over the world to feed the hungry, he decided to sell it in 2000 to an organization that could handle this formidable task: the GreaterGood Network of websites.

Thousands of people a day contribute online by donating, shopping for fair trade products, or paying fees as sponsoring advertisers. By February 2007, The Hunger Site had provided over 500 million cups of food to the feed the hungry, worldwide.

If you are looking for a way to help eradicate hunger, this may be the right organization for you. I just bought 3 skeins of recycle silk yarn at The Hunger Site; my purchase will provide 50 cups of food.

Note: The GreaterGoods Network of cause-related websites include: The Breast Cancer Site, The Child Health Site, The Literacy Site, The Rainforest Site, and The Animal Rescue Site.
