Wood with a conscience

If you have any appreciation for wood you should check out The Joinery in SE Portland. Their beautiful pieces are made on site by highly skilled craftspeople using traditional joinery construction methods. The sales staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they have two furniture designers on staff for a custom upgrade. The woods they use are FSC certified and responsibly harvested. They use local woods whenever possible and support the local economy by selling small accessories from local vendors. The showroom and shop are 100% wind energy powered. You will be hard pressed to find furniture of this quality for the price. The Joinery is not to be missed!

Crafted with an Eco-Conscience

About five years ago, I met folks from The Joinery at an Art Festival in Bend, Oregon. I was very impressed with their quality furniture, fine craftsmanship, and their commitment to environmental stewardship. In particular, I was interested in their finish technique, using tung, linseed, and soybean.

Having written training materials for the secondary woods products industry, and co-owned a commercial cabinet manufacturing company, I am highly recommending this company and their products, based on the inventory I saw on display, and the conversation I had with their representatives.

Any woodworking company that can maintain their niche in the handcraft furniture marketplace for twenty-five years has established a solid clientèle, a good reputation, a strong referral network based on sound business principles, an excellent product, and in their case, a commitment to sustainability that continues to have a positive impact on the trade and consumers alike.

Beautiful Furniture!

I was very please about the furniture I received from The Joinery. I bought a beautiful dining table. The wood used was from a sustainable forest, and no stains were used to finish this piece.
