Agriculture inside Skyscrapers
I'm always intrigued by novel methods of sustainability. I ran across this website called VerticalFarm.com, which is attempting to propel the concept of urban farming to new heights, literally. Its goal is to create localized organic crops indoors and inside vertical buildings, so that the need for pesticides, excess fertilizer, water inefficiency, and moving agricultural across thousands of miles can be decreased. VerticalFarm.com wants to create buildings that are sustainable, water and energy efficient, so that crops (tomatoes, strawberries, lettuce, potatoes, etc) can grown year around and within the urban/suburban core of metropolitan areas. I think this concept has enormous implications in relation to conventional farming, the environment, and feeding the mass around the globe.
