Thirsty & Hungry Bears go here!

Thirsty Bear has been a default SOMA afterwork dining location for me for (eep!) going on 12 years. I just learned that all their beer is organic -- they always have good food and accommodate vegetarians and vegans easily. Take care to avoid Thirsty Bear when there is a big conference at Moscone or you'll likely be competing for serving staff attention with 90 of your closest nametag-on-a-lanyard-blue-button-down-shirt-and-khaki-slacks friends.

Great Beer and Tapas

This is a brewery and tapas restaurant. That is tapas, not topless, thank you very much. The topless bar is across the street.

I just ate here for lunch and i have to say it was very good. I love breweries, and it is so hard to find one that has a single organic beer, let alone an entire flight. Everyone at my table had the special - it was a Belgian Whit called the hallucinator or something like that. Very tasty, but i definitely need to go back and try some of their other beers as well.

The really great thing about this brewery was the food. Most breweries have standard pub fare - this was all organic tapas. We had some great spanish olives, and the baby artichokes were great.

I ordered a crab sandwich, which was good not but not great. Some of my coworkers ordered some paella which was out of this world. Especially the mushroom one.

Overall - great place, good food, really friendly waitress.
