Not your average green business.
TJ Maxx isn't probably what comes to mind first when you think of a "green business." BUT I highly suggest checking them out occasionally because they carry the discontinued close-out items from many retailers-including green ones! Last week I got a Patagonia skirt for $6 (originally $48) and a Patagonia pair of waterproof pants for $7 (originally $50). I also found a super cute Made-in-the-USA dress for $16 and moisture-wicking Made-in-the-USA sport socks for $2.50 a pair. Although I didn't buy any, they also had all natural candies and organic licorice. TJ Maxx is definitely staying on my list of "places to shop" for a broke and wannabe-conscious shopper.
UPDATE: I went back here (it's October 2007 now) and bought Jason brand lotions, Alba lip gloss and sunscreen, and Made-in-the-USA knee socks. Definitely worth a looksie if you want to shop consciously but are broke.
UPDATE: I went back again (May 2008) and once again found a cute dress made in the USA, organic body products, and a bunch of yoga and pilates dvd's and accessories (balls, straps, mats, etc.).
