Believe it or not, but I have had friends who could not believe that Tofurkey Beer Brats were completely vegetarian. At multiple, separate BBQ events, meat eaters consistently chose Tofurkey Beer Brats over plates of a variety of other kinds of Brats and sausages (so you can't say someone picked a bad brat).
I've never been a big fan of meat -- as a child when forced to eat meat, I liked stuff that had savory spices and flavors. Brats had a distinct flavor that went exceptionally well with mustard. As has been pointed out - these are high in fat, but they are a great vegetarian treat to bring to a party -- it's a great way to educate meat eaters about the wide variety of flavors that translate perfectly well to a non-meat food. Even the Italian sausages have the caraway and fennel seeds that impart great flavor and texture.

These Tofurky brats (in case you don't know what that means, it's a tofu meat sub in a bratwurst shape) are microbrewed with Full Sail Ale, which I think is pretty funny, so I had to write a review of them.
They're actually pretty darned good, though not as flavorful as Original Field Roast, in my very humble opinion, not nearly as good. But that company is hard to beat as far as fake brats goes.
And don't get me wrong, I love real brats too, as I'm what one could call an avid meat-eater. But who the heck ever heard of a Tofurky brat with microbrewed Full Sail? That's a little over the top.

Tofurkey are sausage substitutes that are tasty and have a high amount of protein. The flavors are appealing, esp. the beer brats. The downside is that they have higher fat that many, but for a BBQ event or an occasional treat, they're on the top of my list!
