While I loved the flavor and the cleaning power of Tom's, I had to stop using it because after several years of use it had removed most of the enamel from my teeth. Whatever I may have saved by using Tom's I lost in the many dentist bills I have had to pay and the enamel repairing toothpaste. I guesss it cleans a little too well.
My chiropracter recommended Tom's because flouride has built up in my body to a toxicity .. .I love this toothpaste, very good cleaning and breath freshening. I highly recommend. tj
The guy in Dr. Strangelove was right...beware of fluorinated water! As little as 0.04 mg/kg/day has been proven to cause adverse health effects, and it only accumulates in our bodies over time. We may have no choice about the fluoride in our water, so do we really need it in toothpaste too? It's great that Tom's provides a wide range of alternatives from the big mainstream brands that brag about fluoride, not presenting it as the poison it really is.
I've tried many of the flavors over the years and fennel is my favorite, with propolis + myrrh a close second. Cinnamint is bit too bracing for me, but some people may really enjoy it. I recommend steering clear of the Gingermint.

Thanks for your review Susanna, I totally agree about the whole "fluoride is good for you" campaign. A lot of people don't know that there are at least two types of fluoride, calcium fluoride, and sodium fluoride... more »
LOVE IT! Even before I made a conscious decision to "go green", I was using Tom's of Maine Mint toothpaste. Why? Because the flavor is fantastic and not artificial AND it feels super clean.

I've been looking for a nonflouridated toothpaste ever since I read about the flouride being dumped nuclear-weapons waste (from the uranium hexaflouride used to enrich the uranuim. Tom's is one of the most widely-available nonflouridated toothpaste, tastes great, and cleans my teeth at least as well as anything else I've found. Ed

I have a problem with regular toothpaste; it usually makes the insides of my lip pucker and peel. I had no idea what was going on for the longest time until I tried Tom's of Maine toothpaste. Tom's of Maine is gentle on my mouth. My mouth doesn't peel or pucker when I use any of their toothpastes. When I use something other than Tom's, it will immediately irritate my mouth.

I like it because it fights cavities and is natural without all the extra stuff in regular toothpaste and it tastes pretty good too.

I love all of Tom's of Maine products, but especially their toothpaste. Besides being good for the body without toxic chemicals or unneeded preservatives, they do their best by using recycled products in their packaging.
AWESOME!!!

Your chiropractor is almost certainly wrong about this. Fluoride is rapidly excreted from the body through the kidneys. There is simply no where for it to build up in the body, save the bones, and even there mere trace... more »
