Where everybody knows your name...
Transitions is one of my favorite places in the city. It is so much more than a great bookstore...it is a community where all of the knowledgeable staff get to know their clients and all of the customers get to know each other.
Go here if you're looking for an uplifting energy, great reads, a great cafe with healthy food and easy going atmosphere to get some work done as well as a place to attend workshops, lectures and discussion groups.

Spiritual Essence, Elevation and Upliftment
I have been a supporter of Transitions Bookstore for over 12 years. Many of the staff at the store and the owner have watched me grow up from a insecure young adult, who recently graduated from college, to a secure and confident woman, who is now in her 30's. When I look back on the various transformations that I have taken in life, I can not think of one that took place without the attainment of knowledge from Transitions bookstore. When I was in college and exploring various paths of spirituality, it was Transitions bookstore that provided me with the texts that I need whether I was a Buddhist or Native American explorer of the week. When I entered the work world after college, Transitions was the place that I went to to just merely relax and recenter myself. When I finally moved to corporate America and started making real money, it was the many books at Transitions that educated me on how to manage that money. Whether it be spirituality or finances, Transitions is the place to go.

OK - need variety/balance of view
good place and alternative to regular bookstores - would like if they expanded their variety and offered opposing viewpoints and perspective so customers are better informed and know/understand all issues.

No Just For New-Agers
This bookstore specializes in products geared towards personal development - not just books about spirituality and alternative practices, but also about better health, finances, relationships, you name it. The store has a very appealing vibe about it, and the staff are very open and friendly, and knowledgeable about the subjects and products in the store. I also recommend their cafe if you're looking for something light and a quiet place to enjoy. I only wish they had wireless internet connectivity as well

Transitions Book Place
Transitions Bookplace is the BEST source of books and media for those looking to improve their lives. They have a wonderful cafe. The Staff is knowledgeable. They bring in many authors to speak. Its a great place to learn about the topics that matter.

great place to shop, read and eat
Find an inspirational book here - great for gifts or yourself. Read it in the cafe and have them wrap it beautifully for you (for free - if I remember correctly)
